The world knows Dublin for its rich pub and night life culture. For 5 years in a row now, Dublin is also the place to be for entrepreneurs, high-tech lovers and networking enthusiasts. Why? Because one of the world’s biggest high-tech conference takes place in Dublin, the Web Summit!
We arrived a few days before the beginning of the Web Summit to mentor participants of Sprinters.co, a women entrepreneurship startup program. Those 3 days were hosted by the Digital Hub and by Twitter, and ended with a great party co-organized with Entrepreneur Anonymous.
I guess now you are interested in the hard facts about the Web Summit: 21 summits, 42,000 participants from 134 countries, 1,000 speakers, 1,000 investors and 2,100 startups!!!
We decided to focus mainly on the talks that too place at the Startup Summit with very interesting insights from speakers like Mike Krieger, Instagram‘s Co-Founder & CTO, Dave McClure, 500 Startups‘ Founder, and Corinne Vigreux, TomTom‘s Co-Founder.
But participants favorite time is usually the Night Summit, this moment at the end of the day where thousands of people get into Dublin’s pubs for drinks and networking. Paypal Braintree organized a nice party at the Academy where we had the opportunity to test the Orderella app to order drinks without queuing: after quickly creating an account you can browse the drinks available, order it via app thanks to an automatic online payment and get notified when the drink is ready at the bar! Very convenient.
The WeAreStartup team really enjoyed the trip to Dublin!
When next year the doors of Web Summit 2016 will open in Lisbon, Portugal we will definitely be there. We hope to see you in Lisbon!
